State Senator Charlie Borders Visits
On 4 August State Senator Charlie Borders visited us. He discussed the Public Service Commission, as well as several other governmental programs. A pleasant and informative time was had by all!
Grayson Chief of Police, Kevin ‘Mooch’ McDavid visits
Chief McDavid visited the Grayson Rotary Club and was warmly received. He spoke about his emphases on Officers checking the security of businesses and residential areas at night. He stressed the importance of Officers and the public working together to make our community safer. He noted a continuing effort to establish a Neighborhood Watch in Grayson. Truly he is a personable and impressive Officer.
Nellie Jordan of the Carter County Library visits
Nelly discussed the new building on Grayson’s Main street as well as her plans for various community-related projects that will be taking place at the Library. She also discussed the Olive Hill Library. A pleasant and engaging speaker, she was well received by the club.
Bob Summerfeldt Presents on Boating
Once again, an interesting and provocative session. Bob triggered much discussion of boating and (of course) the talk turned to issues of how our local Rotary Club can leverage our assets and contacts to serve our community. Watch this space of a new project!
Poet Camilla Haney visits
FUN and informative meeting on Monday with Mindy Woods-Click's guest, poet Camilla Haney! Camilla read from her own poetry books and she also shared the history and current events of the Carter County Poetry Society.
Such a nice program this week by the Grayson Rotary Club's Scholarship Recipient, Amber Hall! Amber shared her plans and goals for the future - attending Morehead State University and a career as a Physician's Assistant back home in Carter County!!

A nice change of scenery and great food for Monday's Rotary meeting at KCU! Also, very nice to have a surprise visit from Rotary's Assistant District Governor Cheryl Spriggs. ADG Cheryl Spriggs visited our club recently. She encouraged us in our planning for the rest of the year and made numerous suggestions about the next. It has always been good to have Cheryl visit us. We continue to look forward to her continued involvement in Rotary and with our club.

For the third time, Charter Member Jack Strother was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. The highest honor that a Rotarian can attain, Jack has garnered these awards due to his continuing support of Rotary since the Grayson club was founded in 1939! Thanks, Jack! You are an inspiration to us all!

Local boy makes good! There’s a headline for you. As a journalist Cory is into headlines. Well, he’s into this headline anyway. Coming to us from Olive Hill, Cory has already been encouraged to help us reach out to our local friends there, so that we may serve the broader community together. This recent high school graduate is sure to lower our average age by at least a month or two (chuckle). We look forward to working with you, Cory. Service above Self!
Patriot Guard visited us
Representing the Patriot Guard, Tom Epperly visited the Grayson Rotary Club. He described the duties of the Patriot Guard as providing an honor guard for the funerals of veterans being buried, as well as other ceremonial functions. Good luck to Tom and the Patriot Guard.
